Happy Birthday Sierra #3



On March 26, 1891, the Sierra 4-6-0 #3 steam locomotive was built by Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works in Paterson New Jersey. More commonly known as Sierra #3, the locomotive boasts a century-long film and television career. One of its earliest film appearances was in the 1920 Tom Mix western The Terror. During the 1960s, Sierra #3 "played" the Hooterville Cannonball on the popular CBS sitcom Petticoat Junction.
