Remembering actor and voice artist Howard McNear (birth name Howard Terbell McNear), who was born in Los Angeles, California, on this date (January 27th) in 1905. Although McNear is best known to TV audiences as barber Floyd Lawson, pictured left in a scene with Andy Griffith on The Andy Griffith Show, McNear also had a distinguished radio career, which included playing Doc Adams on the CBS western Gunsmoke as well as guest starring on popular radio series such as Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar and Richard Diamond, Private Detective, among other roles.

Remembering actress Cheerio Meredith (birth name Edwina Lucille Hoffmann), who was born July 12, 1890, in Missouri Meredith appeared on many classic 1950s and 60s TV series. She had recurring roles on One Happy Family (1961), The Andy Griffith Show (1962), and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1958-62), and also made guest appearances on numerous shows, including Bonanza, Perry Mason, Rawhide, and Petticoat Junction, among others.

Tyler co-starred with Mickey Rooney in the 1950 feature drama, The Fireball, as well as in westerns such as The Cimarron Kid (1952) with Audie Murphy. Tyler also guest starred on TV series, including The Andy Griffith Show, Hazel, and Bonanza, among others.
